Hello to everyone. My name is Marshall, and I'd like to tell you about my anxiety recovery journey. A period in my life that left me bruised and broken. This is the journey of how I went from being a fearful mess to living a whole, routine life free of Anxiety and its limitations.
I still hadn't forgotten that day when I experienced my first anxiety attack 12 years ago. My journey includes being hospitalized, three psychiatrists, three suicide attempts, experiencing one massive relapse and suffocating myself in an enclosed room. It all started way back when in 2010, I was 18 enjoying my life to the fullest, and with the news of my girlfriends' death, I was left with constant pain.
The agony of my girlfriend's death worsened over time, and I developed a fear of people, chest tightness, and a terrible fear that I would die soon. I was terrified, anxious, confused, and disoriented, crippled by panic attacks, and trapped by constant Anxiety. It felt like I'd lost everything necessary in my life, and my world had shrunk ever so slightly. I stopped playing soccer, which got me through high school, and deprived myself of everything that made me happy. I was even afraid & terrified to leave my house and spent most of my time alone.
THE RECOVERY
I was in acute pain, and after going through the worst time of my life, I decided to change. But I was caught in the web of Anxiety, and relapses did not allow me to return to normal. I recall leaving my house with an old friend to see "Joker" for the first time. And at the end of the film, I noticed the main character "Arthur Fleck," swallowing Yellow-colored pills to combat his anxiety.
My curiosity was piqued, and as I got home, I began researching what those pills were. And it was on that day that I first learned about Xanax bars. So I looked it up and discovered that they are pills used by people who suffer from chronic anxiety.
I immediately went to my doctor and told him everything that had happened and asked him to prescribe a Xanax pill. I still remember that Monday morning I first took Xanax; it felt like all of my demons' voices had been released from my head, and I was free, calm, and relaxed for the first time in 8 years. And as time passed, my doctor gradually reduced the dose of Xanax, which eventually helped alleviate the withdrawal symptoms. And here I am today, the same boy with dreams, a big vision that was once crushed by Anxiety.
Finally, I'd like to thank Xanax, my family, my friends, and even my doctor for helping me stay strong during the worst time of my life.
